What is a Co-Wash!?
Hello Everybody!
Thank you for reading my blog! I am excited to be a hair resource to those who really have basic and advance questions. In the following post I wanted to focus on the benefits of Co-washes.
I know some of you are like what is a co-wash? I know right..At first I really didn't know the different between a co-wash, regular conditioner, and shampoo, but now it all makes sense. Co-wash is short for conditioning wash; it's basically using only conditioner when washing your hair. This is great for people who have damaged hair, curly or wavy hair; and those needing extra moisture. If you are doing this make sure you completely rinse the conditioner out of your hair as it is Not a leave-in conditioner which I will talk about more in the leave-in conditioner post.
If your hair is brittle then doing co-washes for your next couple washes may be beneficial. Why? Because brittle hair is caused by dryness. By co-washing your hair you can fill in the holes of porous hair caused by different hair processes and strengthen your hair. Co-Washes are especially good for people who wash their hair pretty often. People with Curls will also benefit from co-washes because of course you want your curls looking nice but may not want to dry them out by using shampoo! Am I right? Try it out for yourself!
Below is a photo of one of my favorite co-washes, it's called, "Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner," by AS I AM. It smells soooo good and I love the way that it has a slight lather which most conditioners do not! This CoWash really brings my curls to a coil and prepares my curls for leave-ins or gels used to hold the curl. It's a must try! Find it at Sally's Beauty Supply.
